  • ALL THE THINGS ABOUT BURNING YOUR CANDLE
    Your candle just arrived and it smells so yummy that you just couldn't wait to light that beauty up. After a short time you have to run some errands and promptly blow out the candle. Next time you light the candle you notice the candle has some tunneling. Oh no! This is a perfect example of a common reason for a candle to tunnel. After your first burn, we recommend only burning your candle for no more than 4 hours at a time. This will ensure maximum quality and safety. The first burn of a candle is the most important to ensure a clean and even burn thereafter. Simply light the candle and allow it to burn long enough that the melted wax on the surface reaches the edge of the jar. This may take 2-4 hours depending on the size of your candle. In a large room, you may need to burn the candle longer to smell a strong scent. As the candle cools, you may notice a rough or bumpy surface. Don't fret! This is totally normal with 100% soy wax and does not affect the quality of the candle.
  • WHY SOY AND HOW DO YOU EVEN MAKE CANDLES ANYWAYS?
    Oliva Dawn is serious about what we put into our homes and around our families, and that's why our candles are made with 100% soy wax and all natural cotton wicks. Why soy? We are so glad you asked! Soy is actually an all natural renewable resource (soy beans) that are grown right here in the USA! Yay for the farmers! When turned into wax, soy produces an all natural product that burns clean, has a longer lasting burn time and puts off minimal soot. Soot is that pesky petrol-soot that will blacken walls or ceilings! That's makes for a horrible clean-up! Also, unlike parafin wax, soy wax is free from toxins and is biodegradable. Each candle is hand poured in California with only certified clean scents. Clean scents are scents that meet a high level, rigorous level of standard before they can be certified. Our scents are hand picked and free from toxins, prababins and phthalates.
  • OK, DOES WICK SIZE REALLY MATTER?"
    Some may say size doesn't matter, but we are here to let you know that it does! Wick. Size. Matters. Wicks should be trimmed 1/4" before each and every burn. Yes, each time. Trust us, you'll thank us later. Keeping the wick at 1/4" willl keep the flame from smoking and producing a large flame. Save that for the outside firepit. Always remove the trimmed wick from the candle to prevent it from catching fire. You don't need a fancy wick trimmer either. A household nail clipper will do the trick. Of course, we can be pretty fancy over here so hey, if you have the wick trimmer we say go for it you fancy pants, you!
  • CAN I SEND AS A GIFT?
    Oh my goodness, yes!! We would be so honored and thrilled to send a gift on your behalf. Thank you for allowing us to be apart! During checkout, just change the shipping destination to your gift recipients address and we will do the rest!   • WHAT IF MY CANDLE ARRIVES AND I'M NOT GROOVIN' ON THE SCENT?
    Buying candles online can be tricky...hello, where's the smell-o-vision at, but until they create a scratch and sniff online platform, we here at Oliva Dawn want you to be 100% satisfied with your purchase. Within 7 days after your candle arrives, if it's unlit scent just isn't your thing, simply send us an email and we will work alongside you to find a scent that will knock your socks off. Candles must be unlit and in original condition to be eligible for a return. Once a return is initiated, we will send instructions on how and where to send your package. Once the candle is received, we will either refund your purchase with the original payment methond, or send you a new candle of the same size, free. Return shipping will be the responsibility of the buyer.
  • OH NO!! THE DELIVERY DRIVER WAS A LITTLE TOO ROUGH WITH MY PACKAGE, NOW WHAT?"
    Well shoot! That's not cool deilvery driver! Not. Cool!! Our candles are packed with lots of care and extra padding, but we understand that things do happen and that's not your fault. We want you to be happy and satisfied with your purchase so if your candle arrives damaged, please send us an email and will will do everything to make it right.

  • HOW DO I CARE FOR MY CANDLE?
    On first burn, allow candle to burn until the entire surface is melted. This creates what's called a "memory burn" and will prepare your candle for the best burning experience. Always trim the wick 1/4 of an inch before lighting, each time. Never burn your candle for less than an hour, or longer than 4 hours. Let your candle cool completely before lighting again, this will lead to the best possible even burn. NEVER leave your candle unattended, especially aroud children or animals, and do not burn your candle around a draft. Protect your surface from heat. Do not burn your candle to the bottom of the jar. Leave about half an inch of wax at the bottom.
